The Jacksonville Jaguar Men's Golf Team started their season in a promising way this week in Waco Texas with a good showing in The River Classic hosted by McClennen College .Â
The Jaguars were led by Sophomore
Tyler Greensage and Freshman
Connor Denson. Greensage fired rounds of 77,74,77 and Dendon posted rounds of 75,78,75 to both finish with totals of 227. . Â
Freshman and Colorado Springs native
Rylen Caldwell struggled in his first round posting a 80, but followed that up with an even par 72 to give the Jags their lowest individual score of the competition . Caldwell shot a 78 in the final round ending with a 230 total .Â
Freshman and Celina native
Cooper Camp posted rounds of 80,76,75 to finish one shot behind Caldwell.Â
Other scores for the Jaguars were Collin Jantz 76,78,80, Chilton (Chili) Price 77,78,80,
Blake Turner 81,77,77, Jaxon Shaddox 82,75,83 and Porter Ditson 86,86,81.Â
The Jaguars finished 13th in a very strong field featuring 7 of the top ten teams in the nation in NJCAA Division 1 golf. The field also included teams from Baylor, Abilene Christian and SMU.Â
The Jaguars will be back in action Monday and Tuesday at September 25/26 at Cherokee Ranch Golf Club where they will be hosting the Jacksonville College InvitationalÂ
